Adam Zucco began coaching me when I was an extremely overweight beginner triathlete in 2009. He taught me how to swim, bike and run and through his expert guidance I completed my first Olympic triathlon in 2009. This is a feat that seemed quite impossible less than 12 months prior.
Adam studies his athletes and the most progressive coaching techniques in triathlon and beyond. In my case an extreme level of skill and a deep repository of knowledge was required of the coach. In addition to being a beginner athlete, my limiter is that I am asplenic. If my training load is too high, I will quickly fall ill. If it is too light, I don’t progress. Adam handles this balance with the skill of a professional.
Adam gradually developed my fitness and functional strength growing me into an athlete with over twenty 70.3 finishes and 6 Ironman finishes. His work culminated in a Kona qualification in 2013 and a successful Hawaii Ironman in 2014. I recommend that you consider Adam for your highest level of coaching classification.
Adam Zucco (Training Bible Coaching) has played a large role in my development into a professional athlete. I have been with Adam now for about 8 years, and in that time I have gone from just a young triathlete to one of the top US Male triathletes. Writing a workout program is one thing, but the attention to detail and knowledge that he has put into short-term and long-term development plan has certainly made the difference in my training. And while he already knows a great deal about the science as well as the practical application of training, he is not afraid to seek advice from some of the best minds in the sport. The bottom line is that I would not be anywhere near the level I currently am in triathlon without a coach. TrainingBible / SuperFly takes all of the guesswork out of training. My coach takes all of the boredom and monotony out of training. My coach knows what races I have on my calendar and what it will take for me to ready to toe the line and do my best. I can't begin to imagine how I would do this without the knowledge and expertise of a personal coach. I do the training they give me and know that I will be prepared. There is no guesswork involved, in terms of am I doing enough, too much, etc. My coach monitors my progress, knows where my fitness levels are, and tailors my workouts perfectly and properly. Every workout session is specific, targeted, and purposeful. I could not accomplish that on my own.
Without a coach, I would not have signed up for my first full ironman distance race this summer. With a coach, I know that I will be ready on race day!!!
I am writing to highly recommend Adam Zucco as a certified training peaks Level 2 coach. Although I have been racing Ironman and Ironman 70.3 since 2009, I have never used a coach and was convinced I didn’t need one. Boy was I wrong. I had reached a point in my training where I had plateaued and it seemed I wasn’t getting any faster, if anything I was regressing and getting burned out…until I met Adam. Last year I raced at Ironman 70.3 Worlds in Mont Tremblant and had a disastrous race, finishing in 4:55:36. Devastated and convinced I needed to make a change if I wanted to qualify for 2015 Ironman 70.3 in Austria, I bought a power meter and emailed Joe Friel with some questions and asked if he would be interested in writing me a workout plan. Surprisingly, he responded politely saying he was too expensive but his 1st recommendation was Adam Zucco. I thought to myself if Joe Friel is recommending this guy he has to be top notch. Adam has been great at explaining how to train with power and why he’s writing the workouts as he is.
Results meeting the payment:
After 2 months of working with Adam I recorded an Austria qualifying time of 4:27:46 at Ironman Chattanooga 70.3 (new PR by 10 minutes), logging the fastest bike split of any AG. 5 weeks later I did an Olympic and recorded a 2:11:46 (new PR by 11 minutes). 3 weeks after the Olympic race I recorded a new 70.3 PR of 4:27:45 at Muncie, recording another new PR bike of 2:14:03. I think the results speak for themselves. All of my friends are asking what I’m doing but I’m scared to say for fear they’ll catch me. After each race, Adam analyzes my performance and we do a call to discuss areas of improvement. Lately, he’s even done a video where he analyzes my TP data, which allows me to watch over and over at my discretion. I don’t know other coaches that are doing this.
Flexibility to adapt:
I’m a father of 5 small kids under 9 and travel for work 3 days a week, which creates a crazy and moving target for training as well as limits my total time available for training. Adam has been phenomenal to adjust my training plans based on my travel and writing all the workouts in Training Peaks. After my Garmin syncs the workouts with TP, he will give me feedback on how I’m doing – i.e. increase your run cadence, push a little harder on the bike, etc… The beauty is I don’t question his feedback. His personal triathlon achievements let me know this guy knows his stuff and he walks the talk. That’s not always the case with triathlon coaches. I am 110% convinced my breakthrough year is a result of Adam’s efforts. Even my wife is convinced and how has her sights set on going to Australia next year.
